10 Things People Love About Living in Denver

March 20, 2017

denver chessman parkMile High is not just a moniker that describes our city’s elevation — it’s also an indication of our depth of commitment toward a high quality of life by our residents. When you combine our robust economy with our concentration on community, you’ve got a recipe for some of the healthiest and happiest lifestyles around. Here are 10 Things People Love About Living in Denver:

  1. Jobs in the tech industry have grown 10.7 percent over the last 2 years, adding some 5,603 opportunities.
  2. Denver has one of the largest city park system’s in the nation, with 14,000 acres of mountain parks, 200 traditional recreation areas, and 85 miles of paved bike trails. We are also near Rocky Mountain National Park and within a day’s drive of many other great national parks, such as Yellowstone (10 hours) and Grand Canyon National Park (11 hours).
  3. There are 7 major league sports teams in our city: baseball’s Colorado Rockies, hockey’s Colorado Avalanche, basketball’s Denver Nuggets, soccer’s Colorado Rapids, lacrosse’s outdoor Denver Outlaws and indoor Colorado Mammoth, and of course the newest Super Bowl Champions, the Denver Broncos. We even have a rugby club team, the Glendale Raptors, and our own sport’s station, Altitude Sports and Entertainment.
  4. Denver is one of the sunniest cities in the US, with nearly 300 days of sunshine each year.
  5. With our 16 institutes of higher education, and the state’s new 15% excise tax on the sale of wholesale marijuana being used exclusively to fund school construction projects, we have a strong focus on education.
  6. Our focus on community is evident by our nearly 150 community gardens in the Denver Metro area.
  7. New industries have added approximately 10,000 new jobs to the area. And, our state and local taxes are lower on average than many other states.
  8. We make transportation easy with our city-wide bike sharing system Denver B-cycle, and our bus and light rail options.
  9. We have a vibrant restaurant, nightlife, arts, and music scene. We’d recommend checking out the Denver ChopHouse restaurant in the Historic Union Pacific building, My Brothers Bar which is the oldest still-operating bar in the city, our plethora of microbreweries, our staple green chile fare, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and LoDo, the Lower Historic Downtown District.
  10. We’re #2 in the nation for return on residential investment.

If you do not live in the Denver area already and are looking to move, or if you are looking to relocate within the metro area… I’d love discuss the metro Denver real estate market with you. You too can enjoy the abundant perks of living in our enterprising and flourishing city.
